About Us
Welcome to TakeThePledge! This website / initiative has been started by an independent group of Notting Hill Prep School parents in London, UK.
We are a non-profit grassroots movement concerned about the negative effect smartphones can have on children.
Inspired by the well-established US initiative known as Wait Until 8th, we have shamelessly adopted their approach of encouraging parents to unite and sign a pledge to postpone giving their children a smartphone until they reach secondary school.
Our Belief
We believe that by joining together as a community to make NOT having a smartphone the norm, we can reduce the social pressure for our children to be online and start important conversations about how to create a healthy relationship with these powerful and addictive technologies.
